Hello there! My name is Nikki Kristan and I have always been into adventures, traveling, and using that for inspiration in my everyday life. I hate staying in one place for too and if I do, I need to go out and see things as often as I can.

I currently live in New York, but I used to live in Connecticut for almost five years. Sure, it's a bit expensive there, but it is so close to so many cool things in New England! I went on so many adventures I never thought possible and learned so many new things.

One of my favorite places was the Seaside Sanitorium, located in Waterford, Connecticut. It's located right on the Atlantic Ocean, hidden away on a small road where there is no service. Not awesome enough? It's completely abandoned; there are ghost stories that circulate around the buildings. People are not allowed inside the buildings because of decay, asbestos, and all that but it's a cool place to hang around. Between the dormitory building and the actual hospital, there's a path that leads you through a small, covered bridge and the grounds are decently maintained. It gives off an eerie feeling for sure, but if you like things like that, it's perfect!

Not to mention the fact that it is on the water. You can park for free and then walk up to the small beach area and hang out for as long as you like. The water around there has some seaweed in it (of course) but overall, it's decently clean. There is a pier of sorts that leads off into the water on one side, but it's all made of massive rocks. You can walk out to the very end of it at low tide, but if you stay too long, trying to get back across can be a real pain!

There have been rumors about tearing down the buildings and possibly turning them into apartments. I am not sure if this rumor has been solidified or not (they don't really explain much online, honestly), but I am going to be so sad if they do. The buildings are historic: The hospital started off as a children's tuberculosis hospital, then it turned into an old folk's home, and finally, a hospital for the mentally challenged.

Creepy as it might seem, I think it's worth the visit! Especially if they want to tear it down--get there before they do!
